Description

Bourmond Byron lived in Jacmel and Les Cayes. Was a carpenter and worked as a ship builder. A visit at Centre d’Art in 1948 inspired him to become an artist.

Painted scenes of voodoo and Haitian daily life. He is known for using a semi-mystical treatment of light and his unique color pallette of subdued blues, greens and reds.

Exhibited in France, Canada and the USA. His works are included in the permanent collections of the Musee d’Art Haitien du College Saint Pierre in Port-au-Prince, the Milwaukee Museum of Art, and the Waterloo Museum of Art in Iowa.
